Viewed as a whole, all of Basco’s work attempts to enfold language, representation, and becoming together in spaces where they are presumed to exist as discrete entities. Well known for her movement-based performances under the name boychild, Basco’s photography and drawing accompany the performance practice. Tosh Basco was born in California and rose to prominence in the drag scene in San Francisco in 2010. ![]() He collaborates with a variety of artists including Korakrit Arunanondchai, Ryan Trecartin, DIS, Xavier Cha, and Fatima Al Qadiri. His work has been presented at the Venice Biennale, Berlin Biennale, Palis de Tokyo, Biennale de l'Image en Mouvement, MOMA PS1, UCCA, MOMA Warsaw, etc. Through the transmutation of physical spaces, he explores the relationships between seeing and believing. His work focuses on creating “hyper-reality” environments that blend video, lighting, and cinematic tropes to create worlds that feel both familiar and foreign. Arunanondchai aims to represent the geo-historical moment of the Anthropocene, concerning himself with the earth’s evolution from a post-human and animist point of view.Īlex Gvojic is a New York–based environment designer and cinematographer. The artist works with metaphors and symbolic characters, while figures from Buddhism also appear regularly. His practice is informed by Eastern and Western cultural data that he collects, appropriates, and transforms. At the core of his practice is narrative-based video that parallels his life and features his friends and family.
